Update : Life Changes
On the 16th of July, I lost my father, V. U. Venugopalan. Retired Chief Engineer of Kerala State Electricity Board by profession, he was an engineer, a polyglot, and a farmer by soul. He was 74 and had no major health issues until he got covid, and in six days, the situation changed from good to death.
While we were wondering how someone could leave us in six days, I lost my mother on the 18th of August, due to a sudden cardiac arrest. She was a retired Malayalam Professor at Mercy College, Palakkad, and an avid reader. In 40 days, we (me and my sister) became ‘unparented’.
I am taking a break from sending the newsletter and publishing my working notes, and I am not sure when I will restart it. But, I will.
In the last 90 days, I have sat in front of the substack editor a dozen times, wondering how I could write this, and whether I should even write about this. I am not thinking a lot this time, I am going to hit the send button as soon as I feel I wrote the message.
